SUMMARY:Basic Human Factors in Crash Reconstruction
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed to introduce crash investigators\, technicians\, and crash reconstructionist to various driver response research in emergency situations as well as introduce them to research dealing with non-immediate responses also. Te attendee should have a thorough understanding of Time and Distance formulas on how to calculate speed in moving situations as well as to/from a stop situation\, and constant speed situations. The goal is to introduce attendees to the foundations of driver response research\, specifically\, response times and nighttime recognition distances. The class is designed to meter out the tremendous amount of information between stories and examples that reinforce learning.

SUMMARY:Human Factors in Traffic Crash Reconstruction
DESCRIPTION:This introductory course examines a variety of human factors to determine “why” a collision occurred. We utilize lectures\, discussions\, in-class demonstrations and outside field exercises to give you an appreciation for the importance of human factors in explaining collision causation. You will gain an understanding of how frail human evidence is and why the ability to interpret and analyze physical evidence is critical to the success of any collision investigator. \nIn addition to the driver\, vehicle and roadway characteristics that must be considered in an investigation. This course explores essential research that sets the standard for conducting scientifically robust crash investigations and for understanding driver responses in the context of what is typically expected under normal driving conditions.

SUMMARY:Advanced Crash Reconstruction Utilizing Human Factors Research
DESCRIPTION:This advanced reconstruction course focuses on obtaining a better understanding of assessing the human role in the crash sequence\, including such topics as: response and reaction times (and delays)\, recognition\, perception\, nighttime recognition and impairment\, and more. Participants also are introduced to Driver Research Institute’s Response software — a research-based human factors tool that helps analyze driver responses and is based on research from course instructor Dr. Jeff Muttart and other industry professionals. Students learn how to incorporate this software into their crash reconstructions. Attendees are given a 30-day trial of Response\, the cloud-based human factors analysis software.

SUMMARY:June Intro to Human Factors Class at IPTM
DESCRIPTION:While many crash investigation courses focus on the interpretation of physical evidence to determine “how” a collision occurred\, this course will examine a variety of human factors to determine “why” a collision occurred. \nThis course* utilizes lectures\, discussions\, in-class demonstrations and outside field exercises to give you an appreciation for the importance of human factors in explaining collision causation. You will gain an understanding of how frail human evidence is and why the ability to interpret and analyze physical evidence is critical to the success of any collision investigator. \nIn addition to the driver\, vehicle and roadway characteristics that must be considered in an investigation\, this course also addresses the nature of perception and reaction\, the factors affecting the investigator’s choice of perception-reaction values as well as eyewitness reliability. \nRegister here!\n*Eligible for 40 ACTAR CEUs.
