I have been a user of the IDRR software for several years. As a Human Factors expert I have access to the same resources as the DRI team, but found having all of the information at my fingertips to be highly valuable. The new Response program offers the user so much more. Clearly the DRI team has invested a lot of time and expertise in their development of the Response program, which now answers most any driver human factors questions. In my opinion (to a reasonable degree of scientific certainty), where IDRR was a highly valuable tool, Response is an invaluable tool to any accident reconstruction expert. I will be a lifelong user!
Scientific Methods to Evaluate a Driver Response
Comparative Approach Backed By Numbers
As crash investigators, it is essential to analyze every crash with a sound and accepted methodology. This presentation discusses how to apply a time-honored methodology when analyzing a driver's response. The methodology involves comparing a given data point (your case) to a larger dataset (all peer reviewed research). Following this methodology allows an investigator to assess the behavior of a driver relative to how other drivers responded in a similar situation from research.
