Our Foundations course provides a clear, accessible introduction to driver behavior, event onset, hazard anticipation, PRT fundamentals, and nighttime visibility. Through structured instruction and hands-on application, students learn to integrate human-factors science directly into real crash reconstruction work. 

You Will Learn:

  • Intro to nighttime visibility & lighting documentation 
  • Basics of walking speeds, acceleration profiles, and lane-change behavior

  • Foundational analysis of distraction, fatigue, and impairment 
  • Research on why drivers doโ€”or do notโ€”pull into traffic 
  • A scientific foundation for advanced human-factors casework 

Who is this for?

CLASS 2: ADVANCED HUMAN FACTORS & RESEARCH ANALYSIS

The Premier Course in Forensic Human-Factors Training 

Our Advanced Program is the gold standard in driver-response and human-factors training. This intensive, graduate-level course condenses 160 years of research into a structured, fast-paced week designed for professionals who must analyze and defend complex crash scenarios. 

Attendees leave with the scientific grounding, tools, and analytical precision needed to operate confidently at the highest expert-witness level. 

What You Will Be Taught: 

  • Hazard anticipation, threat-recognition, and glance research 
  • Speed choice patterns and driver speed-adaptation behavior 
  • Lane-keeping behavior, steering entropy, and stability metrics 
  • Walking speeds, approach behavior, and pedestrian timing
  • Vehicle acceleration rates and gap-acceptance thresholds
  • Nighttime recognition distances and low-light visibility factors 
  • Perception-Response Times (PRT) & all scientific factors affecting PRT 
  • Research on when driversโ€™ willingness or not to pull into traffic

A hands-on, field-intensive program focused on low-light crash documentation, PRT determination, visibility measurement, and forensic photographyโ€”all performed under actual nighttime conditions.

A Response software user, who wants to learn about the math and science behind Response. Completion of a Human Factors in Accident Reconstruction course, or an equivalent program, is recommended before attending.
